Coastal Logistics Group establishes Dorchester County operations

Logistics provider serving international shippers, creating 60 jobs with $1.2 million investment

COLUMBIA, S.C.Coastal Logistics Group (CLG), a third-party logistics (3PL) provider and warehouse operator, has established a new facility in Dorchester County to serve customers shipping through the Port of Charleston. The $1.2 million investment has already created 30 new jobs and is expected to create another 30 jobs in the coming months.

CLG is operating the facility as part of a strategic alliance the company formalized last year with Kuehne + Nagel Inc., one of the world’s leading logistics providers. The alliance leverages Kuehne + Nagel’s international footprint and supply chain management services with CLG’s expertise in warehousing and distribution.

CLG’s 200,000-square-foot facility, which is located at 2725 W 5th North Street in Summerville and began operations this spring, houses value-added services for customers that ship goods internationally through the South Carolina Ports Authority’s terminals.  CLG provides value-added export services for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including disassembling, packing and shipping vehicles in a semi-knocked down (SKD) process. The company plans to expand into the power generation, construction and aerospace industries and offer both import and export services.

In addition to the Dorchester County facility, CLG operates in Norfolk, Memphis and Savannah. Kuehne + Nagel Inc. is part of the Kuehne + Nagel Group of companies, which has more than 1,000 logistics offices in more than 100 countries, including a branch office in Charleston located at 670 Marina Drive.
