Dorchester County Economic Development non-profit arm becomes tax-exempt public charity 

(SUMMERVILLE, S.C.) -- Following their recent annual Board Retreat, Dorchester Economic Development Corporation received their formal determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service confirming their status as an organization exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Dorchester Economic Development Corporation, a South Carolina nonprofit corporation, is a public-private fundraising arm of Dorchester County’s economic development department. Achieving this designation allows tax-deductible contributions to be made to the corporation in the form of charitable support. 

The leadership of the DEDC board is comprised of the following members: General Henry “Hank” Taylor – (Chairman), Mr. Ronnie Givens (Vice Chairman), Councilman George Bailey, Councilman William “Bill” Hearn, Mayor Anne Johnston of St. George, Mr. Robert “Bob” Bennett, Dr. Jim Martin, Mr. Linwood Ling, Mr. Skip Elliott and Mrs. Lauren Bailey. 

The Corporation plans to focus on 4 pillars: Marketing, Prospect Development, Workforce Development, and Product Development to support business growth and retention and an increased standard of living for all citizens.
