Geocycle LLC Expands Facility in Dorchester, South Carolina

Summerville, South Carolina

January 21, 2010 - Geocycle US announced today that it will invest $7 million in Dorchester County to expand its current facility. The new industrial waste processing facility will be located on the existing Geocycle property approximately nine miles east of St. George.

"Geocycle’s announcement furthers their commitment to both Dorchester County and South Carolina. Their decision to expand their facility is a clear sign that our business-friendly climate and skilled workforce are helping our existing businesses grow and prosper," commented Jamie Feltner, Chairman of the Dorchester County Council.

The facility receives waste materials from local industries and produces an engineered fuel for use at the Holcim (US) Inc. cement facility in Holly Hill, South Carolina, and other local cement operations. Types of waste materials the facility receives include inks, used oils, plastics, carpeting, unused diaper trimmings and waste textiles. The cement facilities utilize the engineered fuel in place of traditional fossil fuels such as coal, and the process helps keep waste materials out of landfills.

Upon opening, the new facility will expand its current capacity by more than thirty percent. When fully operational the new facility will double the current operating staff, bringing additional jobs to the area.

"We are pleased that Geocycle chose to expand their facilities here," said George Tupper, Chairman of the Dorchester County Economic Development Board. "Our county has so much to offer to new and existing businesses and Geocycle's expansion will help put our citizens back to work."

Founded in 2002, Geocycle LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Holcim (US) Inc, offering sustainable solutions to waste management needs.
