With growth rates averaging 1.9 percent per year since 2015, Dorchester County is the 5th fastest growing county in the state. Workforce Development Initiatives

Dorchester County has developed various programs to address workforce needs, as well as networking opportunities among the County’s existing industries. New and expanding companies have access to many training opportunities through regional, and state workforce programs, in addition to the many local resource options that are available. Dorchester County is also home to programs like STEMersion and FIRST Robotics that are both instrumental initiatives for shaping tomorrow’s workforce for today. The Charleston Region also boasts many programs that help support a growing, thriving employable labor base:

Training Opportunities

Dorchester County QuickJobs Training Center

The Dorchester QuickJobs Training Center is located in St. George. This facility is run through Trident Technical College and hosts contracted classes that are of value to residents and area employers.

SC Works On-The-Job Training

OJT Training is a method of providing individualized occupational skills training for eligible individuals.


readySC is one of the nation's premier economic development training programs offering customized recruiting and training solutions to companies locating to South Carolina.

Trident Technical College (TTC)

In addition to a two-year, multi-campus community college, TTC promotes economic development through education courses.

Workforce Investment Act (WIA)

The WIA is a federal program administered in SC by the Emp. Svcs Div. of the Department of Employment & Workforce.

Apprenticeship Carolina Program

An apprenticeship is an flexible training program that cultivates workers who meet the workforce demands.


This 62-hour training program is designed to fulfill manufacturers' one-year experience requirement for entry-level employment.
