DCED co-hosts inaugural Skills Development Symposium

Dorchester County Economic Development partnered with the South Carolina Department of Commerce and Apprenticeship Carolina to host the first-ever Dorchester Skills Development Symposium on May 2.

The event, which brought together leaders from the educational, business and government sectors, created a space for attendees to learn more about the future of Dorchester County’s workforce. Guests gathered at Woodland High School to tour the “Be Pro Be Proud” truck and then traveled to the Dorchester County Career & Technology Center for discussions and lunch.

South Carolina Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette welcomed the crowd at the Career Center and then spent time touring the campus and speaking with faculty and students. Participants concluded the day by identifying action items aimed toward collaboration and creative solutions for current workforce development issues.
